For Jalepeño (MOD009) Nicolaon returns, this time in collaboration with Rafael Murillo which makes for a versatile and stylish EP. The first track off the rack is the cool, tech house 'Tsoin Tsoin.' It features flirty, patterned vocals supported by arpeggiated plucks and a savvy steel drum-like melody. This piece is raw and sexy, sure to keep the heat on the dance floor. Up next is 'Cash Back,' a strong and more masculine take on tech house. The dapper piano lead along with the rugged bass line match perfectly with the aggressive synth stabs and the textured low-end pad that weaves throughout. The handsome groove will be welcomed as a highlight to any Saturday night
set. The third number 'Welcome to My House' is a fun and inspiring deep house track. The groovy bassline provides the bounce and grit while the whimsical pads give this track its
romance. Along with crisp claps and snug sound design, this number will get bodies movin' at the club. Finishing off this EP is 'Late Afternoon,' a straight take on a minimal groove, but nothing is left to be desired. The tightly zipped kick and paired- down bassline are the backbone for the splashes of rhythmic stabs and plush sounds sprinkled throughout. It's a fitting contrast to the other pieces in this collection. This EP provided by returning label friend Nicolaon and newly minted friend Rafael Murillo is on trend and versatile for all tastes.
