about

Present Company follows suit with Vol. 2 in the compilation series featuring contributions from a bespoke collection of international artists.

Our first tasteful ensemble is 'Gradierwerk' from Gut Boe. It's a refreshingly modest take on sound design with the prominence of ambience woven with organic and synthesized sounds. The dream-like soundscape is the perfect vehicle to accentuate the relationship between sound and well-being. It's an absolute treat for your ears and mind.

'Affinity Moon' from Modmotif co-founder Ansidis is a revealing dub-techno essential. The voluminous bass line wraps the entire track into a cocooning experience. The hypnotic arp and plucks are the perfect complement to the dubby low end with a hint of vocals splashed throughout. There's a bit of mystery displayed in this piece which confirms that dub techno should be displayed on all dance floors to transform any set into a journey.

Never one to shy away from a good groove, co-founder Bertrand P designed the tight dub techno piece 'Visionario' that immediately shows how sensual electronic music is. The plus-sized kick and bass line are the carrier for the cool sound design which leaves just enough room for the fitting vocal. The rhythmic chirps and metallic percussion provide the finishing touch. The tune is proof that dub is still in fashion.

Ansidis and neo-trad have teamed up again to bring an astounding minimal track entitled 'Compromise' which this track doesn't. The sound design is the highlight which keeps the ears locked and the mind guessing. Simplicity gives way to unhindered vocal samples, crisp percussion and delayed ambience that elevate this piece to its grandeur. This is an uncompromising take on minimal house.

A new contributor to the Modmotif family, Daniel San, delivers 'Govinda,' a house track that rises to higher levels through recorded sounds and a sub bass line that drives even deeper. The keys are perfectly accented by the horns while the vocals are embellished with filtered percussion and the straight kick. This house fits perfectly into any sunset mix.

Joe Bond is back with tech house banger 'Girls,' sure to make a statement on any dance floor. The tight kick and bass line allow the vocal to be on full display which is well deserved. The rhythmic drone drives while the melody follows in close pursuit. The way this track stomps will get the scantily clad further undressed.

Another new contributor is Alixr with 'Flux.' His melodic techno piece is well curated and elegantly designed to impress even the most doubtful of tastemakers. The percussion with its slight flamenco influence and the straight-legged kick is the catalyst for the rest of the instrumentation. The arp and plucks are the perfect complement to one another and the whispering pads add depth and drama. This track is sure to be in style for a long time to come.

DJ Ivory rounds out this EP with a jaw-dropping techno piece, 'Some Choices.' The kick resonates with all and the acidy arp provides the familiarity that really brings this track to the forefront of modern techno. Short stroked hi-hats and delayed percussion provide the fashion-forward groove, so be ready to get locked in with this one.
